Donald Trump pulled out of the presidential race earlier this month and confirmed what had looked like a publicity stunt from the beginning. In some more interesting news Ron Paul is officially running!!! This will be a momentous year for Ron Paul as he seems to have much more support and media attention this time around compared to 2008. I think that Ron Paul would be wonderful as president simply because he understands the fiat system and our faulty monetary policy. He advocates the use of a gold standard which would be very attractive if you are holding gold or silver. his libertarian ideals are ones which seem in line with reducing government impact on our economy and allowing business to flourish in a free market! Ron Paul's website is listed below along with a fan site.

Wild Day!
Well folks, silver has had a crazy, wild, unbelievable day. It started out heading North in the fast lane as it sped up to $49.75. Then it found some considerable resistance, pulled a
U 'y and fell 8 % to 45.80 then settled in around the 46.40 level. Wow! Now that's a day! I think a sideways correction is likely somewhere in the neighbourhood of $45-$48 over the next few days. Although this is little more then a guess as this market could jump higher hurdling over the $50 level which would make the sell off a "failed move" as my buddy Derek over at thesilverlog.blogspot.com likes to say. This would no doubt create a massive move to the upside which would see silver have more impressive gains. Either way the market long term is headed higher and if we get a correction either through price or time, you should welcome it with open arms, and a wallet full of Fiat Trash!
Muahahahaha,
Long Live Silver!!!!!!!!

Obama to cut deficit by $4 Trillion
Barack Obama announced today a plan to reduce the US national deficit by $4 Trillion by 2015. This will be accomplished by increase in taxes and cuts to various programs. Obama did say that he will continue to provide key services to the poor and elderly as well as other social programs. However as the following article from zero hedge points out, Obama has talked tough on the deficit before but failed to walk the walk.

Portugal Needs a Bail Out
Portugal announced yesterday that they will be asking for a EU bail out. This has been a long time coming and will likely cause rippling effects across Europe. Analysts expect the sum to be somewhere in the neighbourhood of 70 Billion Euros (just under 100 billion USD). Spain will likely be next to ask for help as the list of European counties requiring financial aid grows. I cannot see this as being anything other than positive for the silver markets in general although I don't think it will be a major cause of any significant price action. Article below.

Tomato Hard Freeze!
About the sign from wendy's, unfortunatley i could not get the photo up here but it just said to ask for a tomato. I thought perhaps it was simply do to reduce operating costs but it turns out there was a record deep freeze in mexico resulting in the death of a lot of produce. None the less it is still kind of interesting.

Donald Trump to Run for President!?
Okay, Donald Trump is about to make a run for the presidency in 2012. Or is he? Perhaps it is just a publicity stunt but whatever the motives Mr. Trump is certainly putting his opinions on the table for all to hear. I must say that although he may not be the best choice for president it is good that he is bringing The United States Finances and other economic issues to the forefront of his message. The more people who talk about the severity of the situation we find ourselves in today the sooner it will be "fixed" if I can use that term. Below are two interviews of trump the first is Trump on CBC Radio's Q. The second is Trump on NBC.

$40 in March...it will Happen!
March will be a wild month with the house passing a bill on Tuesday that will postpone the shut down of the federal government until March 18th, there is still a real possibility of a shut down. The debt ceiling is also a concern and everything looks favorable for a test of $40/oz.

Silver Getting Volatile
Silver has jumped in the last 10 days to new 31 year highs of $34 and change. Today after a gentle downward trend the bottom fell out and spot price is currently at $32 an ounce. We should be excited because although this bearish move means a loss of $1.50 on the day it also shows volatility. As silver pushes further in it's bull market volatility will surely increase.

Egypt Update
Protests are being staged in Tahrir Square today in Egypt despite the Mubarak regimes effort to compromise. Todays protests are the largest since they began on the 25th of January. I beleive that the Governments attempts at appeasement will prove futile because as they forfeit more and more the protestors gain confidence that more change can occur. Because of this I beleive we can expect more protests of grerater size as the people get closer to acheiving there goals. Check the news article database for an article by the BBC. More to come.
Oh ya the price of silver is up 90 cents back into $30 territory!

Serbian Protests
In Belgrade today 55,000 protesters and opposition party supporters rallied in the streets demanding economic reform. They where angry with rising unemployment and low wages. Some say there where as many as 70,000 protesters wow! This is very interesting indeed because it is the first non Arab country to have mass protests like this since the Tunisian protests took place. Do not think for one minute that this social unrest is confined to the Arab world. It is not, this is a world wide movement with the economy at the root of all frustrations. Expect further protests in other countries to break out in the coming weeks and months. See the News Article Database for an article about these latest protests.
Planets Anyone?
Inflation is starting to take hold. Also some interesting comparisons between the space program and Silver.
